Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was the youngest of the children of the singer Dionne Warswick, and gospel singer Cissy Houston. Whitney Elizabeth Houston grew up in a musical household. In Newark, Whitney began singing with the choir of the church in the early years of her childhood. When she was 15 years old, she joined her mom in backing vocals in Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978. Then, she performed backing vocals to Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson and her mother. She began working as a featured vocalist for the funk group from New York, Material and it was the high quality of her vocal work in the band that caught the attention of major record labels including Arista with whom she signed in 1983 and where she stayed for the rest the duration of her career. Whitney Houston's debut Whitney Houston album was released in 1985. It became one of the most successful albums by an artist. Tracks like the title track, The Greatest Love of All, How Can I Tell If You Give Love and Save all My Love were all released from the album. They helped Houston to achieve the seven US top tens that surpassed even the top tens of The Beatles. The album sold US 3,000,000 copies before it reached 25,000,000 copies globally. It earned her the first in her 6 Grammy Awards. Its Whitney 1987 release, featuring Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as hits, helped build upon her success. However, the 1992 movie The Bodyguard sealed her spot as one of the most successful musicians of all-time. The film itself as well as the performance of her on screen were not widely appreciated, the album's soundtrack and her version of the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You made charts for albums and singles for months, and was sold at 44 million copies across the globe. Her daughter Bobbi is born the month of March of 1993, the year following her wedding to Bobby Brown. It was in the middle of 1993 and in 1996, she'd become a regular user.
